The Society held its first ever Spring outing in Charleville Golf Club last Saturday 20th February. Finally the weather eased and the members got a chance to dust off the clubs and take to the course. The shandy scramble format is always a favourite of the society as it eases the pressure somewhat on some ring rusty swings. A turnout of 46 players meant that the craic was mighty in the clubhouse while the breakfast was devoured and the draw was made.

The say “save the best until last” and this was as true as ever on Saturday. Clement, Pat and Brendan, the final 3ball came up on the inside with a fantastic score to claim top spot. Congratulations lads on a great start to the 2010 season.

Second place went to John, Nicholas and Gerry who played some lovely golf and were the clubhouse leaders for a good while before being pipped at the post. Third place went to Jack, Mick and Paul. The boys obviously smarting over the loss in the Alan Lillingston semi final and they showed some real class to shoot a great score. The fourth spot went to the three Johns. Great to see John G back with us from his travels and he obviously learned something from all professionals he was watching in the sunshine.
