Golfer of the Year 2011 – Kieran Donegan

What a finish to the Golfer of the year we had in 2011. It was a two horse race heading into Killarney. Kieran Donegan was the odds on favourite with a substantial lead but Ger Finn was quietly positioning himself on the rail for a late rally. Unfortunately for Ger, the second place finish on Saturday was not quite good enough and Kieran just held on to claim the title. This is Kierans second GOY title in three years and he was value for it, after winning both the Dundrum and Presidents prize outing and finishing runner up in the Balbec Cup. Not a bad return for one year.
